Compacting customers' farms with hard tyres is
counter productive for all parties
Every farm contractor should be embarrassed to drive onto a customer's farm without lowering his or her tyre pressures. Just think for a moment. Here is your valued customer, whose earnings come from growth of plant material. You were brought in to help him make more money. And then you drive over his paddocks compacting the ground, wrecking and wasting part of his income. This has to be embarrassing, to say the least. If I was the farmer, I'd kick you off.
Compaction caused by high pressure tyres reduces growth by 18 to 30%. In one university test, comparisons between a 4 wheel drive tractor with 'conventional' tyre pressures, to best traction tyre pressures created 2% more crop. This is with one pass only! Imagine a small farmer, grossing $200,000. That farmer is $4,000 per year better off, simply because one tractor had lower tyre pressures. And remember, that $4,000 is profit, cream, that's money in his pocket for luxuries. So, how much damage are you doing driving over his farm, needlessly, with high tyre pressures?
Now, don't think that this doesn't matter to you. If your customer has a choice of contractors, he will choose the guy with AIR CTI. Wouldn't you? $4,000 is better in his pocket, and no ruts, and his crops are growing. Imagine if it was a bad year, and he was struggling. Rain can't get into compacted ground. Worms can't get through. Fertilizer can't soak in. And the roots can't penetrate down to the deeper water.
But, there's more. You're losing money too, especially if you're repeatedly driving around paddocks. Hard, highway tyre pressures hammer the driver and your truck by amplifying every bump. Soft low tyre pressures float over uneven ground, being kind to the paddock, kind to your vehicle, and to the driver. Soft tyres off road use less fuel, and suffer one third or less damage and punctures. And, travel speeds can be higher because of smoother ride. You'll float across soft spots, stick to slippery wet grass, and generally obtain greater traction, up to 200% better.
So what is this AIR CTI? AIR CTI (Central Tyre Inflation) is a tool that makes every ute, 4x4, 6x6, truck, or tractor work better, easier, safer, and lowers costs. With this tool, the driver adjusts the tyre pressure for the load, and the road, on the fly, while driving. No time is wasted filling or deflating tyres. The driver is aware of punctures or slow leaks. AIR CTI re-inflates automatically, virtually eliminating blow outs and roadside tyre changes.
Most people, about now, are saying; "low tyre pressures cause blow outs'. Or, "my tyre guys fill up my tyres. They know what they are doing." Or; "Ya gotta run high pressures for fuel economy." Unfortunately, these 'theories' have wasted more money and risked lives, simply because of ignorance or 'old wives tales.'
Truth is that almost everyone is wasting money, tyres, and lives, simply because the wrong information is out there. There is no single correct tyre pressure. The correct tyre pressure depends upon the load on the tyre, the tyre size, and the road/track conditions.
Log trucks, with full loads, reduce their tyre pressures to 30 psi several times every day. Four by four fertilizer spreaders will spread with 30 to 50 psi, with standard tyres. With high floatation tyres, they'll go much lower. Land Cruisers should be around 10-12 psi for most paddock work, unless they are heavily loaded. From the Pink Roadhouse to the top of Bulla, from Bamaga to Hobart, every road, and every load needs different tyre pressures.
AIR CTI is totally Australian, manufactured for Australians. A dash mounted gauge and controller puts the driver into control. A simple turn of the control knob increases or decreases the tyre pressure. Turn it more and it changes more. Once a pressure is set, the system keeps that pressure. AIR CTI is easy to use, easy to live with, and a great investment in your business. Return on investment is usually in the first year. Often much quicker.
Do the right thing by your customers. Tell them why those hoses go around the outside of your tyres. Tell them you spent the money because you care about your customers. Tell them they should be running AIR CTI too. In fact, sell them some. You'll be helping them, helping yourself, and benefitting our environment, all at the same time. Everyone wins. Ring AIR CTI now on 03 5127 6128.
